Review: Parterre Box

I went last night to hear a very enjoyable mix of music in a fun acoustic with the quartet ETHEL, pianist Derrick Goff and the fine, versatile soprano Francesca Federico, all of them very impressive. I had heard Federico as one of Heartbeat Opera's two Salomes last year and was pleased to hear her clean, shining singing in a variety of idioms. Classical songs included Amy Beach and Roger Quilter, plus she sang a stunning "Somewhere" and--with utter stylistic rightness-- a bunch of show tunes including ""Someone to watch over me," and La vie en rose".
